That means a lot of holiday decorations and treats. And not just on our homes and Christmas trees. The digi world is full of beautiful kits, wonderful mega colabs, and some freebies too. I am particularly fond of one kit, exclusively available at Scrapable.co and perfect for those of us who never see snow, can wear flip flops most of the year and decorate palm trees as well as Christmas trees.

I am very lucky to be on the Cream of the Crop team at Artisan notebook. I am responsible for completing one layout a month using a designer of my choice and the layout gets published. Well, this month my absolute favorite layout I have done all year got FEATURED in the magazine as HOT TREND. I never would of thought this in a million years …. but here is the layout:

The layout was done using paper from BubbleScraps Designs and Elements from Farrah’s Creations (Jordan kit).

WOOT! My day just got a little brighter :-)

Sweet Summertime

We are getting ready for a wonderful vacation with some great friends but the oil spill in the Gulf threatens to ruin all the fun. I started taking pictures in April before the spill happened but have been taking pics almost every weekend since. Its my attempt to document the disaster as well as preserve memories for my wonderful kids. I have been fortunate to work with some great designers and have great beach kits to showcase these pics.

This layout was made using Sweet Summertime from Polka Dot Plum designs (available here). The picture was taken the 2nd weekend we took the boat out this season …there will be more coming soon.

The heat is getting to be unbearable and its not even summer yet. So, I have been spending more time indoors – hanging out with my kiddos and doing alot of scrapping.

Can you believe that Memorial Day is almost here? I am looking forward to spending time on the boat, bbqing and lots of time spent with the family.

And speaking of families, I got a new one – well another digi family that is. I am now going to be creating for Polka Dot Plum! Yay! They are sooo nice over there and hopefully the challenges will be lots of fun. I can’t wait to get started.

Two teenagers = too much drama for me. At least for this past week it did. Day 1: my daughter got herself into a world of trouble and is now grounded forever. Day 2: still reeling from day 1. Day 3: my son is riding home with a friend and they get rear-ended! Day 4: my son gets his driver’s license, keys to a truck and I went to concert with a friend. Day 5: I’m sick – can’t keep anything down and have the worst headache. Day 6: Feeling better but a little on edge as my son is now really enjoying his freedom…and finally Day 7: got some layouts done and uploaded – whoo hoo!

I finally got one layout done for my son's baby album. Its the only picture that I have of me showing off my pregnant tummy. I used a kit entitled This Is Me by Valarie Ostrom Designs - the colors matched perfectly! Now to get to work on those baby pics!

I absolutely love spring - time to clean out the cobwebs and start some new things growing! In keeping with spring cleaning, I have decided to give up my role as digital store owner and get back to doing what I absolutely love: scrapbooking! Hopefully I will be able to get those baby albums done - its only been 15 years since I started.

I have been accepted to join Valarie Ostrom's creative team - and I am very excited. I used her new kit Family Treasures to do my latest blog wear - aren't the colors fabulous?

I have also been invited to join the wonderful Miss Mis Designs team and I will still be hanging around with Jeanne Marie Scraps.

Thanks for looking and hopefully I will be back soon with some much needed up-to-date layouts.

WOW was I behind

I hadn't realized how long it has been since I posted - wow was I behind! I guess life got in the way again... but to catch you all up. I started designing digi kits last year only to realize that I really dont like making kits nearly as much as I like to scrap. So I thought about it and put out a few templates for Project 365 - that didnt do too much. Oh well. Then I started playing around with more with photoshop and I discovered that I LOVE to make things. Not just templates for layouts but paper templates, shape templates - all kinds of things. Then I really started thinking about all of us scrappers who don't necessarily need an entire kit - maybe just a few things. So, I started a new line of digi scrap products called Simple Inspirations. I really like it and am hopeful that you all will too.

Everything is priced at 1.50 and under and each week an entire color series goes on sale for 25% off. BARGAIN! This week red (in honor of February) is on sale.

I am still playing around with templates but I kind of like those that can be turned into two page layouts - I am still needing to do a book for each of my kids and am hopeful that my "playing around" will eventually turn into their albums.

I am so excited. Today I get to post my first layout published in the Artisan Notebook - an emagazine for digital scrapbookers. Pebbles and the team at Denim and Daisies sponsored me to be on an elite team called Cream of the Crop. Each month one layout will be published in a section entitled Inspiration Station. Its very challenging and very fun! Here is my first layout…

Pebbles is such a sweetie and very busy. In addition to sponsoring me, running a store and opening another one – she is still designing. Her latest kit is part of a blog train being conducted by DST.

The Battle has begun

Digi Scrap Addicts is hosting a challenge entitled Battle of the Creative Teams. Probably just for braggin rights but it doesn’t matter –its a challenge and I love ‘em. The contest started on Wednesday and will last for 4 weeks. Voting is every Monday and Tuesday for the most recent challenge and the public is voting! The team with the most votes wins $10 gift certificate from each participating designer/store. I love prizes! So on Monday or Tuesday go vote for us at team Awesome Blossoms !

This is my layout for this week’s challenge..(and it already won Layout of the day at Scrapable)

Credits go to Garden Girl Designs for the kits He’s Got the Blues and She’s Got the Blues. I really enjoyed making this – I played a lot with Photoshop and with the kits. Plus it is my kiddo – but I’m only a little biased.

lazy (not) Summer Days

I had a really good plan for the summer– I was not going to do anything but relax, maybe finish a few projects, and hang out with my kiddos. Well, I got most of my backyard tidied up and got my scrapbook room cleaned but then things got a bit crazy. We had some very dear friends come to town with their adopted daughter (she is the cutest little girl) and then my daughter and I went on a mini vacation to St. George Island to continue our visit with our friends. I accepted a job as Creative Team Manager for a digi scrap site called Digi Top 3 and I’m waiting to hear about another job that would possibly start next week. As of yesterday, I began my adventure into the world of photography and post processing in Photoshop (I love that program). There will be lots of pictures posted I’m sure as I learn all the fundamentals, etc.

Today I got brave and posted a few in Click’n Moms forum for cc…I’m scared but these are the two I chose

Happy Monday

Hope everyone had a good weekend and Father's Day. We spent yesterday afternoon on the boat with our daughter and two fur babies. So my dh was surrounded by his "ladies". I am trying to learn to keep my camera off of auto and I used the time yesterday to continue learning about lighting, ISO etc. I got some good shots but my dd is getting sick of the lens being pointed at her. I have a couple favorites and will post some more later but I Photoshoped the heck out of this one and love the results. I used Garden Girl Designs Shes Got the Blues kit to help in the colors and elements. Hope you like it as much as I liked creating it.

Another week gone already. WOW! I haven’t gotten much done around the inside of my house but my backyard is looking pretty good and my tan has greatly improved.

I am trying to learn about lighting as it effects pictures, so I grabbed my favorite model and headed to the beach a few days ago. I think that I was off on my timing – I was too early and got some serious shadows. Well, now I am learning how to edit in raw. I did get a couple of good shots though and created some cute layouts with them. I used a kit entitled Just Another Day in Paradise by Totally Twisted Scraps to do these two

I have been trying to complete all the challenges at Scrapable.net this month and have done 3 or 4 so far and have also completed layouts for their swimming lessons. This one is my favorite so far

Well I must get my house cleaned, laundry done and grocery store out of the way. I would like to scrap this weekend.

Happy Monday! Things have been sort of busy around my house this weekend. Company in town again, teenagers being teenagers, and a really fun day on the boat yesterday. I did manage to complete a layout with a new colab kit from Scrapable.net. Its entitled Denim and Daisies and is a very cute all-American kit (and just in time for the 4th of July). I really like this layout. Its my 15 year old son and he finally let me take a picture without him making a funny face (his way of avoiding the lens). I edited the original photo in raw and then changed it to black and white, cropped it and blurred the background a bit. I really wanted to show off his handsome face and I think it worked. Funny thing is, he had me shave all his hair off last night so he looks completely different today. Go figure.

The start of ...

Today is the start of the 2009 hurricane season and my summer vacation. Hopefully, both will be quiet and calm. I have a few more days without kids (duriing the day anyway) as finals are taking place this week and the official end of school is next week. So, I'm trying to finish up some outdoor projects and get my exercise routine down pat before the kids are home and I no longer have time just for myself. I have managed to kick out a few layouts - one is my latest project and the others are traditional layouts. I'm really liking the extra creativity when using animation in layouts - I think it adds a little something extra! I 'll be back tomorrow with a free qp or two.... bye for now

I have had a very busy weekend with house guests, a party, and some Memorial Day activities. I took lots of pictures and will be busy catching up on my scrapping all week. I did, however, finish my blog class and managed to tweak mine a bit more (hope you like it). I don't think I am finished though - it will probably be a work in progress for quite some time. This morning brought great news. Last week, I submitted my "project" in a layout contest for Creative team appreciation week. Today I got the email stating that it won for best layout using the CTAW kit! Thanks to everyone who voted for it. This was my first try at an animated background so I can't wait to do more layouts using this technique.

I’m so excited! There are some wonderful designers out there in digi land who have gotten together and created a HUGE wonderful kit for their CT members. I downloaded the kit this morning and it ROCKS! And since I am in the midst of a digi project this kit was perfect. I put my project on my sidebar but I need assistance in uploading it to galleries. I don’t know if there are any that actually support .gif files. If someone has any info on this I would love some help.

Hi everyone! I have been away for a few days due to a pretty bad migraine – but I’m back and my creative juices are flowing. So, my dh and wonderful kids have given me extra alone time today to help me relax and celebrate mom’s day and I utilized that time by learning something new in Photoshop. I learned how to make a blinkie (yay). I used a kit entitled Captured Moments by Garden Girl Designs and created my very first animated blinkie. Its on my sidebar. Let me know what ya think.

So, I'm still trying to get this blog thing down. My husband is still making light of my attempts and my son - well he's 15 and doesn't really care about anything but being 15. Wish I could think like that. Anyway, I am looking forward to scrapping a couple of new kits. Scrappy Shannon has just released Called Home and this kit will give "closure" to someone very dear to our family. Thanks Shannon! So, I'm learning and this is my very first post (woohoo). My son thinks that this is some kind of torture for him because he has to listen to me talk about my accomplishments. My husband is being somewhat sarcastically supportive and all my digi friends - they're the best! I can't wait to get officially started and show everyone all the wonderful kits that I have been able to scrap with lately.
